Saw this photo in the winter 2010 h&m mag. I'm obsessed with this chicks hair color.
Her name is Yulia Kharlapanova... she is stunning.

times square xxi.

Accidentally found myself at 45th & Broadway last week and happened to walk into the new flagship forever 21. It's enormous. Over 90,000 square feet. I must say I was very impressed and it wasn't scary or claustrophobic, it was actually very well organized. I was in a hurry so I didn't spend a ton of time, but I fully intend to return. The best part is that they are open until 2am daily. awesome. Here's what I bought.

casual sweater. wintery snowflake open cardigan. $27.80
great comfy sweater for the holidays & then some. also available in cream.

Metallic skirt. I found it in silver though.

lanvin fur.

I actually did it, got my ass out of bed on Saturday morning. Somehow I woke up up 8:30 and just made myself get up. I got to the h&m on the west side of Broadway in SoHo at around 9am and got a wrist band to shop between 11:05 - 11:20. It sounds absolutely ridiculous but in hindsight was well worth it. I ended up buying the faux fur coat that I had in mind, that I only sort of liked. But now, I'm in love... LOVE. It's fantastic & amazing. I only wish I'd bought two because they are already selling for at least double on ebay.

blood red.

At this point, I am most certainly procrastinating and not doing my work as I should be... Anyhow, this is today's manicure. Blood Red (aka Revlon's Autumn Berry) and no stupid designs. hard core.

It's faux!

This faux fur coat from XXI (which according to them is perfect over formal wear, but according to me it's perfect for EVERYTHING) looks much better in person... The photo's don't really do it justice. It's a bargain too for $44.80. XXI.

Almost exactly the same vest!! I actually bought both but then returned the UO vest.

rockafella dress.

Ooh la la. I love this dress. hmmm, maybe I'll have to try it on.

cold weather colors.

I've decided to end my obsession with crazy nail art. Plus, now that it's colder out I prefer to wear really dark shades. These are my top pics for the season... Also, Refinery29 has some really great color trends to check out.

Really liking to purples...

Sephora is my happy place.

Note: the only make-up on my face in the photo are the products I've reviewed below with the exception of the Trish McEvoy eyebrow pencil which I love love love.

I've been looking for a new oil control face powder due to the fact that I went through my Peter Thomas Roth on-the-go powder in under 3 weeks. Not cool considering it was $30, or maybe I just used way too much. I really do like the product and will probably continue purchasing it in the summer because of the spf quality. But for now, I decided to try Benefit's Get Even ($30).

So far, I like it but I haven't yet worn it to an 8 hr restaurant shift so we'll see if it does it's job. I will say that typically whenever I buy make-up, I waste no time choosing a shade. I just find the lightest color and buy it. Luckily for me I take pleasure in looking ghostly white. So keep that in mind if you try this one out. I actually may have been able to go a shade darker but I like being ultra pale, so if that's not your thing you might try the next shade.

Face: Benefit's Get Even Pressed Powder ($30), Boi-ing Concealer ($18)

Lips: Sephora Brand Rouge Cream Lipstick ($12)
This shit is DARK. Darker in person actually. But it's nice to have options in your collection. Again, this is a shade that works well with fare skin.

Update: Really like this color, but it's so dark that you really need a lip liner. I looked for one at Sephora but couldn't seem to find the right shade, so I bought Revlon's Color Stay lip liner in Raisin... Seems to be just about right.

Lashes: Maybelline - The Falsies Volume Express $10
I was told that this product was really good, so I thought I'd give it a shot... It's pretty good for a drugstore mascara. I still have a spot in my heart for Benefit's Bad Gal Lash but I guess it's nice to switch it up or to keep something less expensive in your purse. It did make my lashes look really long but not super thick. Bottom line, I'm not blown away but it's probably worth $10.

Update: I really hate this mascara. It's to hard to layer... I vote no.

monday manicure.

Yes, I know it's Thursday but I am just now getting around to posting... I think I need to start chilling on the crazy manicures... this one is by far the most elaborate/ridiculous. Sort of under the sea - little mermaid style.

lanvin for h&m.

ALL I've reading about online lately is Lanvin for H&M... blah blah blah. Am I really going to get up early and deal with the crowds of people to get the good sizes of this stuff? Maybe!

I've checked out the lookbook and I think the only thing I really possibly want is the fur coat, some of the dresses are amazing but I really don't have anywhere to wear them... okay maybe I do, but I literally have like 6 party dresses I still have yet to wear...

Lanvin for H&M is available on November 20th...

choon love.

WTF is a choonimal?

"Choonimals are our own brand and creation of animals/creatures/abominations from an otherwise normal animal kingdom. Every one has fangs, eyes more crooked than Don Vito, and sometimes a spiked, sparkler-looking tail. They all look rabid and ravenous, but somehow still cute enough to share a pillow with."

CHOONIMALS
at least check out the website...especially the undies ;)... (god I'm so modest)

robyn.

Where did Robyn come from? for real... the last time I remember hearing a Robyn song, I feel like I was 12... and now all of the sudden I'm obsessed... actually it was 1990 "show me love" & "do you know what it takes" to be exact... and I guess I was 6. hmm. I feel old.

anyway... check it out... soooo good.

sleepy hollow.

ahhh...
Here is my post Halloween manicure... although it's now November... this one reminds me of sleepy hollow with the creepy monochromatic colors...

And just because I love crimped here... here's another photo...

tailoring is key.

Bethanny knows...
Tailoring is so important. It really makes such a difference. I used to get most of my clothes from the thrift stores in Chicago and have slowly taken every single piece to the tailor. My favorite tailor in the LES is the The Orchard Tailor Service, they are fast and cheap. Sometimes they do it while you wait. They did a fantastic job on my sequin hot pants, I'm sure that wasn't an easy task. Seriously ladies, take your clothes to the tailor. It's worth it.

haculla.

Kind of love this... passed by on Lafayette two days in a row so I photographed it.

inspiration.

In honor of my own very recent room renovation, I've decided to add some of the photos that have inspired me. If you're looking to redecorate, maybe you'll get a few ideas!

Carrie Bradshaw's apartment - after she redecorated.

To the best of my knowledge her paint color was a custom mix for the set but is very similar to Benjamin Moore's Electric Blue. I almost painted my room this color but thought it was a touch too in your face. So happy I wen't with Buckland blue.

Carrie's apartment - in it's original state as seen in the series.

LOVE this charming teeny-tiny kitchen.

Especially for an NYC apt. I wish I would have done this in my first apartment, but since there were 3 people living in our little studio, similar to cave dwellers... they would have never allowed it. :)

inspiration boards...

I think these are great if you need an inspiration board, I actually think this cork board image is where my jewelry/thumb tack board derived from... The top one is a little cluttered for me, but still very cool.

The room of Blair Waldorf

Coco Chanel's Paris apartment

Holly Golightly's apt in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

My old Chicago apartment... Much more spacious than my current dwelling. Oh well.
