diy. dylanlex.

Not my best step by step DIY tutorial, but forgive me.
I've been out of the habit of blogging and made this back in February. But none the less, I'm back & am pretty proud of this!  I'm so obsessed with DYLANLEX, I was actually going to buy the FALKOR necklace and justify it as a 'wedding expense', but they don't have a showroom and I found out that it weighs 1 pound so I had to give up on my dream.

hixson necklace.

Inspired by Dannijo: Hixon Necklace

Original $745

Inspired $32 available on ebay

The biggest difference I've noticed, is the type/quality of the chain.
The original is stunning but this one is pretty fun too.

finds from forever.

Came across this stunning necklace at Forever 21 this afternoon.

I have an affinity for crystal necklaces and this one is fantastic!
It looks like it's much more expensive then it actually is.
Now I have like 17 sparkly necklaces.

$12.80

more is more. ring overload.

It's so hot that jewelry is pretty much obsolete (at least for me) for the summer.
Loading on my rings is the last thing that's on my mind.  So here's a photo montage to pay respect to my ring collection... i'll see you in the fall.

DIY. slap dash - painted crystals.

Tom Binns - Slap Dash Collar
Neon painted Swarovski crystal collar necklace in a silver setting.
$1,750.00 [sold out everywhere]

I can't find the price points for the rest of the originals but i'm sure they are crazy expensive!

My Versions...

Fist, I used a black sharpie and colored in some of the crystals.
Second, I used nail polish remover to take off the marker...
I did this to give it a bit of a stain because it was just too sparkly.
Then I used my forever 21 nail polish in neon yellow and
slathered on a couple of coats over some sporadic gems.

Necklace & earring combo set at 'So Good' jewelry for $18.
Usually $35.99 but everything is always half off and it's actually really pretty and feels sturdy!

Note: The inspiration jewelry seems to be a bit sloppier,
so no need to be careful, slather away.

diy. painted pearls.

My roommate gave me these giant vintage Chanel pearl clip on earrings
for my birthday but they needed a face lift. [per her suggestion]

All you do is take a nail polish color of your choice [mine was forever 21 :: pink]
and carefully paint over the center pearl.  I did about 3 coats.  You can sort of still see
the original pearl around the edges, but nothing that anyone else will ever notice.

If you don't have Chanel earrings,
just grap something that needs an update
& slather some nail polish on it.
Have fun!

armored collar.

Decided to post this shirt & necklace combo
because people are always curious about where the pieces are from!

Metallic collar top from H&M - about 2 weeks ago for under $30.
Can't find it online for the life of me but it should still be available in stores.
Bib Necklace available at Forever 21.

The shirt itself is very sheer, so you you'll need a black camisole,
unless you don't mind a little see-through action. :)

$9.80 Spiked Bib Necklace from Forever 21
This necklace really looks much more expensive,
people are always in disbelief when I tell them it's from Forever 21.

DIY. chanel button earrings.

Designer buttons turned into earrings!

1. Spray paint your buttons & let them dry.
2. Use nail polish remover to remove all paint except for the crevices.
(it will happen naturally)
3. Superglue on earring posts.
(i found mine at Michael's - $3.00 for 20)
When placing the posts, glue them towards the top,
if it's centered the logo will have the opportunity to spin around.
If it's at the top, it will stay put after you put them on.
4. Let them dry, add your own backings & you're done!!!

skeletor.

Pretty much way over the skull trend, but I saw these adorable friendship bracelets the other day at So Good jewelry in SoHo (Broadway btw Grand & Howard) and bought a few up.
Usually $8.99 but everything was 50% off, and I believe it still is.  Couldn't pass it up.  They have them in a bunch of other fun colors too & in silver skulls too.
