avon SALE > eyebrow perfection.

I've shared with you my favorite eyebrow pencil before, but when I went to re-order today I discovered that they are on mega-sale!!! Usually $6 each, right now they are 2 for $3.99 from Avon.com.

I order the blonde color & it's the perfect shade for my coloring & complexion,
even if my eyebrows are darkened, works great!  I buy in bulk, get it while it's cheap!

perfectly neutral.

Favorite Neutral Eyeshadows.
I don't often get my make-up professionally done, but it has happened a time or two.
I love doing make-up but am by no means a professional.  Last time I had my make-up done I was discussing products with the make-up artist and she pointed me into the direction of one truly amazing color palette.

Target's Sonia Kashuk Perfectly Neutral 12 shade shadow palette came highly recommended.  She said that the foundation for any make-up artist is an amazing neutral palette and although she had tried many throughout her career, Sonia Kashuk's was her favorite.

Only recently was I able to get my hands on the palette and after I tried it out, I am in love!
And it's only $19.99.

Note: These colors are all matte,
so if you are looking for a shimmery look,
this palette wont get you there...

Favorites pictured below: sonia kashuk, mac & physicians formula

the mac colors are shimmery.

scandal eyes vs. bad gal lash

I love Benefit Mascara.  Forever.  But, I was in a pinch the other day and had to pick up something cheap from Duane Reade.   Grabbed the first thing I saw, probably because of the neon orange packaging.  Anyway, I love big fat mascara wands so I was impressed with the brush.  First use was nothing but positive, but today I decided to put it up against my tried and true to see how it measured up.

Scandal Eyes: $8
has a richer black hue
wand is significantly shorter
not easy to layer coats
mascara clumps on wand
lashes stick together with additional coats
looks a bit wiry

Bad Gal Lash: $19
long, full wand
easy to layer coats
formula does not clump on wand
lashes stay separate with extra coats
looks feathery & full

Over all... You get what you pay for.

Left: Benefit    Right: Rimmel

update: I tried it again.
Used no other eye make-up except for the Rimmel mascara,
and today I liked it.
I still would pick Bad Gal over Rimmel, but I'm pretty happy with the product.

revlon moon drops. lilac champagne lipstick.

I wore this hue yesterday & everyone kept asking me for the details, so I thought I would shard it here.  I have a really light complexion so it's probably not for everyone.

Sephora is my happy place.

Note: the only make-up on my face in the photo are the products I've reviewed below with the exception of the Trish McEvoy eyebrow pencil which I love love love.

I've been looking for a new oil control face powder due to the fact that I went through my Peter Thomas Roth on-the-go powder in under 3 weeks. Not cool considering it was $30, or maybe I just used way too much. I really do like the product and will probably continue purchasing it in the summer because of the spf quality. But for now, I decided to try Benefit's Get Even ($30).

So far, I like it but I haven't yet worn it to an 8 hr restaurant shift so we'll see if it does it's job. I will say that typically whenever I buy make-up, I waste no time choosing a shade. I just find the lightest color and buy it. Luckily for me I take pleasure in looking ghostly white. So keep that in mind if you try this one out. I actually may have been able to go a shade darker but I like being ultra pale, so if that's not your thing you might try the next shade.

Face: Benefit's Get Even Pressed Powder ($30), Boi-ing Concealer ($18)

Lips: Sephora Brand Rouge Cream Lipstick ($12)
This shit is DARK. Darker in person actually. But it's nice to have options in your collection. Again, this is a shade that works well with fare skin.

Update: Really like this color, but it's so dark that you really need a lip liner. I looked for one at Sephora but couldn't seem to find the right shade, so I bought Revlon's Color Stay lip liner in Raisin... Seems to be just about right.

Lashes: Maybelline - The Falsies Volume Express $10
I was told that this product was really good, so I thought I'd give it a shot... It's pretty good for a drugstore mascara. I still have a spot in my heart for Benefit's Bad Gal Lash but I guess it's nice to switch it up or to keep something less expensive in your purse. It did make my lashes look really long but not super thick. Bottom line, I'm not blown away but it's probably worth $10.

Update: I really hate this mascara. It's to hard to layer... I vote no.

peter thomas roth.

A couple of weeks ago I was exchanging a few things at Sephora and I found this wonderful product. I'm not sure if I should blame my shiny skin on the NYC summer or just accept the fact that my skin is changing but I wish I would have found this product months ago. It's really easy to use & gives your skin a really great matte look. It's perfect for traveling too because of the cap BUT the best part is that it has an SPF of 30.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear sunscreen. No matter what! I cannot say this enough.

If you must use a bronzer, this is probably not for you. I am very pale so it works well with my complexion, the powder seems to be translucent... but still. It sells for $30 at Sephora.

Because I was so impressed with my first Peter Thomas Roth product, I decided to try out several more. I've been having some problems with my skin as of late and am NOT okay with it. So I picked up this small trial size acne kit from Ricky's the other day and have already seen a huge improvement. I've heard only good things about using beta hydroxy acid, so it was a big selling point... so here's to hoping! This sells for around $35 and you can get it at Ricky'sNYC or Sephora.

You can find any of the above products at

threading & trish mcevoy.

While I was at Bloomingdales the other day, looking for ways to spend my hard earned money... I was just about out the door when I was approached by the Trish McEvoy salesperson... I've never tried any of their make-up, so I was ready to let him sell me some stuff. I wasn't ultra impressed with any of the products, but I thought I'd buy something anyway to be polite. I ended up getting the precision brow shaper, and I gotta say I'm actually very impressed with it. It's about $26, but so much better than any drugstore Maybelline or Covergirl pencil you can get. And it has this great little brush on the end to help blend it. I highly recommend it.

Also, if you've never had your eyebrows threaded before you should probably give it a shot. It really is such a great alternative to waxing. I personally think that it hurts less & it doesn't irritate your skin. I am very pale, and am back to normal after about 20 minutes.

The place that I really like in my neighborhood is called 'classic eyebrow threading zone'... and they get the job done for $7. It's in the LES on Clinton Street btw Delancey & Rivington, but really most places do a great job.

If you've never even heard of threading before, you should check this out...
