hair experiment.

The texture of my hair has always been somewhat of a curse in my life.  Sure, i've learned a few tricks in the last 5 years and am no stranger to hair extensions, texturizing sprays and even dry shampoos... but au naturale, yikes! I even have a dumb cowlick at my hairline. super.

After a convincing conversation over the weekend, i've decided to try my hand at supplements.  Not that I am completely convinced that I can transform my locks, at the very least it's worth a shot.
Here's what I bought. (both amazon prime eligible)

$43.25

$7.49

blue hair love.

I finally took the blue hair plunge yesterday at
Sally Hershberger Salon with with master colorist Sean Gallagher!
And I am in love with it!

To get this shade of blue, it was not as simple as you might think.  Many
test pieces were processed & variations were tested.  Manic Panic
makes a light blue color called Bad Boy Blue, but don't for a second think that
that's all you need.

The formula was kept a secret from me, because I
tend to overshare so my only advice is this.

Go to a pro & definitely don't try to dilute the manic panic
with conditioner (like many blogs say). the blue turns sea foam green.

the color looks much darker here.
the sun light makes it look pastel.

pastel hair [still sticking around].

At the news stand Sunday evening, while picking up my weekly copy of Time Out New York, I was  skimming the pages of the September French Vogue.  I wasn't yet ready to drop $15.99 for a magazine, so I took it in quickly.

One thing I was surprised to see was their page dedicated to pastel hair! Still I thought?
I was under the impression that dip dyed, dunk it or cotton candy colored hair had been on the way out, but perhaps it deserves another look.

Luckily since the trend has been hanging around for a bit,
there are a few less then permanent options for the ladies who are unwilling to commit.
But by far, the best temporary solution is chalk staining.  If you've been under a rock, here's are some pictures to refresh your memory.

silk scarf style.

My purpose for blogging about this today is because I recently decided to put my hot head extensions back in.  Giving me amazing, beautiful & thick hair.  They look flawless 99% of the time, but the downside is that you can see the tape from the pieces if I wear my hair in a high pony tail.  So it's a hair style with purpose for me.  I'll spare you a picture, it's really not THAT bad, but no one wants to be the girl who has tracks you can see.

I've rounded up some great pics of inspirational ladies who are rocking the head scarves.

messy wedding hair.

With so many weddings this summer & temperatures soaring,
It's time time for brides, bridesmaids, wedding guests & hair stylists to get creative.

This is my most recent wedding, Maid of Honor, hair style.

Inspirations:
Backcombed face framing structure (photo: anthropologie.com)
Paired with a messy yet tamed side bun (photo: proenza schouler)

I picked this look because I like a lot of volume around my face, but
also wanted to stay on trend with the messy look.  Adding a jeweled pin
dressed it up perfectly. (pin purchased from accessorize)

It's especially great if you have an annoying cowlick.  I'm constantly fighting
with my hair.  As the day/night wore on my style dropped a little,
probably because it was 105°, but overall it stayed put.

braids & buns.

Spice up your boring bun by adding some braids & lot's of teasing!
I did this myself, but I thought my hand was going to fall off by the end :)

really loving this look too. so sweet.

hair idol.

Kate Bock's hair is amazing! I only wish I could grow my hair to be this full.
The only time my hair even sort of resembled this look was when I had a whole pack
of Hotheads put in.  It was glorious while it lasted.

Ladies, if you have thick luscious hair... let it be long.
