DIY. wrapping paper.

If you love the laser jet printers at Kinko's as much as I do, then this project is for you.

I have a habit of collecting images that appeal to me or inspire me.  I keep them in a folder on my desktop and every once in a while I round up the ones I really like and head to Kinko's to print them.

My most recent trip I noticed that most of my images were in the same color family, so I decided to make wrapping paper.  Here's how to do it.

1. Go through photo websites like... 

www.piccsy.com

www.weHeartIt.com

2. Collect images that you like.

3.  Put them on a flash drive. You will need at least 3 images but no more than 9 per page.

4.  Open your files at Kinko's and when you have the print option... choose to print 9 images to a page (using the color printer). The resolution won't be high enough for you to print larger than that anyway.

Depending on how many images you have, they may or may not be repeated.  This example uses 3 images, each appearing 3 times per page.

Pictured above are 4 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper.  Depending on the size of the object you are wrapping you may need more.  

5. Tape the backside of the papers together to create 1 large sheet of wrapping paper.

And now you have your custom wrapping paper.

Grey Dog.

So happy there is a new Grey Dog closer to my apartment.

The new one is at 244 Mulberry street. 

On this particular visit I got the bagel with cream cheese and lox, 

and it was by far the biggest one I've ever seen.  The pecan pie was enormous too.

Apparently they don't do anything small. Check it out.

DIY. crayon drip pumpkins.

My DIY version :)  

Once I started using a blow torch, things moved really quickly. 

Just don't burn yourself. Don't hold the crayon with your hand if you are using a torch.

I crafted a crayon holder out of a thick piece of wire. Have fun!!!

handmade halloween. DIY.

Handmade Halloween Cards.

All supplies purchased from Micheal's craft store.

Just remember that envelopes will likely be needed,

so keep that in mind when deciding on the size of the card,

or else you will be making your own envelopes.

halloween ribbon. not the actual ribbon i used, but very similar.

Supplies:

water color paper or heavy card stock in a neutral color

scrap booking paper in festive patterns/colors (orange, black, etc)

or Martha Stewart Crafts Halloween mat pad (pictured above)

halloween appropriate ribbon ($1 spools from Michael's crafts)

stickers, buttons, felt shapes, letters, etc.

hot glue gun, scissors, packaging tape

Direction:

start off with your water color paper, or card stock.

fold it in half, creating a card.

mix and match papers & patterns, ribbons & buttons and stickers & letters

I mostly used the packing tape to secure the ribbon to the backside of the scrapbook paper... then hot glued the scrap book paper to the card stock to hide the edges.

but there really is no wrong way to do it. get crazy. it's halloween!!!

This ones not handmade, but equally as adorable.
