perfectly neutral.

Favorite Neutral Eyeshadows.
I don't often get my make-up professionally done, but it has happened a time or two.
I love doing make-up but am by no means a professional.  Last time I had my make-up done I was discussing products with the make-up artist and she pointed me into the direction of one truly amazing color palette.

Target's Sonia Kashuk Perfectly Neutral 12 shade shadow palette came highly recommended.  She said that the foundation for any make-up artist is an amazing neutral palette and although she had tried many throughout her career, Sonia Kashuk's was her favorite.

Only recently was I able to get my hands on the palette and after I tried it out, I am in love!
And it's only $19.99.

Note: These colors are all matte,
so if you are looking for a shimmery look,
this palette wont get you there...

Favorites pictured below: sonia kashuk, mac & physicians formula

the mac colors are shimmery.

hat head.

Perfect hairstyle for cold weather.
step 1: pull sweater/hat/headband over your head
(leave it around your neck while you braid/style)
step 2: know how to braid (or teach yourself on youtube)
step 2: do some sort of crown braid
(i did an inverted braid across the middle of my head & pinned the rest into the beginning)
step 3: pull your headband up into place, adjust everything till it looks right... and you're done.

I got my headband on broadway... from a street vendor. (for like $8)

DIY. tufted headboard.

Came across this awesome tufted headboard tutorial.  Here are a few highlight photos but for the full tutorial check out Little Green Notebook.  Awesome DIY post. Can't wait to try it.

white hot blonde.

My hair has been growing out for a couple of months now, and I was starting to get used to the idea of going back to a more normal hair color.  My natural color is a strawberry blonde, but after looking at these pictures I'm not so sure I should.  Plus it's not that hard to color my hair... still moderately damaging but very manageable.  These girls are hot.

me from the summer with fresh roots.

If you are platinum, and are blessed with fair hair like me,
you can use dry shampoo to add a little white powder and lighten up the roots in between salon visits.

My two favorites are:
Klorane Dry Shampoo at Ulta.com for $17.99
(sometimes the nozzel is a little faulty, but they normally replace it without question)
Bumble & Bumble white hair powder spray at Sephora.com for $35

scandal eyes vs. bad gal lash

I love Benefit Mascara.  Forever.  But, I was in a pinch the other day and had to pick up something cheap from Duane Reade.   Grabbed the first thing I saw, probably because of the neon orange packaging.  Anyway, I love big fat mascara wands so I was impressed with the brush.  First use was nothing but positive, but today I decided to put it up against my tried and true to see how it measured up.

Scandal Eyes: $8
has a richer black hue
wand is significantly shorter
not easy to layer coats
mascara clumps on wand
lashes stick together with additional coats
looks a bit wiry

Bad Gal Lash: $19
long, full wand
easy to layer coats
formula does not clump on wand
lashes stay separate with extra coats
looks feathery & full

Over all... You get what you pay for.

Left: Benefit    Right: Rimmel

update: I tried it again.
Used no other eye make-up except for the Rimmel mascara,
and today I liked it.
I still would pick Bad Gal over Rimmel, but I'm pretty happy with the product.

skeletor.

Pretty much way over the skull trend, but I saw these adorable friendship bracelets the other day at So Good jewelry in SoHo (Broadway btw Grand & Howard) and bought a few up.
Usually $8.99 but everything was 50% off, and I believe it still is.  Couldn't pass it up.  They have them in a bunch of other fun colors too & in silver skulls too.

moon drops.

revlon moon drops. lilac champagne lipstick.

I wore this hue yesterday & everyone kept asking me for the details, so I thought I would shard it here.  I have a really light complexion so it's probably not for everyone.
